American Assassin delivers a highly charged ride that breeds suspensefully thrilling actions. The story unfolds about one Mitch Rapp, into whose life comes the tragedy of losing a loved one to terrorists, consequently motivating his entry into the CIA to eliminate bigger threats. The stakes are intensified, as the action never ceases.
While the film has plenty of fights, car chases, and explosions to keep you trapped, the bond between the protagonists makes the emotional connection.
That said, should you have an experience in the spy-thriller genre, you might find portions of it rather predictable. Adrenaline-pumped and fast-paced, the movie sacrifices character development by cramming in twice as many action scenes.
American Assassin makes for an entertaining, action-packed thriller although it doesn't quite have the depth of your other typical spy films. Still, this makes for an enjoyable ride for the action film crowd.
